H4 VISA Stamp Documents checklist

When applying for an H4 visa stamp, you will need to gather several important documents to bring to your visa interview. While the specific requirements may vary depending on your situation and the U.S. embassy or consulate where you are applying, here is a general checklist of documents commonly required for H4 visa stamping:

1. Passport: A valid passport for each family member applying for the H4 visa, with a minimum of six months of validity remaining beyond your intended period of stay in the United States.

2. Form DS-160 Confirmation Page: The confirmation page with the barcode from each family member's completed and submitted Form DS-160, which is the online nonimmigrant visa application.

3. Appointment Confirmation: The appointment confirmation page or email that indicates the date, time, and location of your visa interview.

4. Photographs: Recent passport-sized color photographs that meet the U.S. visa photo requirements for each family member applying for the H4 visa.

5. Marriage Certificate: A copy of the marriage certificate to prove the relationship between the H1B visa holder (spouse/parent) and the H4 visa applicant.

6. H1B Approval Notice (Form I-797): A copy of the H1B approval notice (Form I-797) issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for the H1B visa holder (spouse/parent).

7. H1B Visa Holder's Employment Documents: Documents related to the H1B visa holder's employment, such as an employment letter, recent pay stubs, or employment contract, to establish their current status and support the need for an H4 visa for the family member(s).

8. Proof of Relationship: Additional documents to establish the relationship between the H4 visa applicant and the H1B visa holder (spouse/parent), such as birth certificates, adoption papers, or family photographs.

9. Financial Documents: Financial documentation, such as bank statements or tax returns, to demonstrate that the H1B visa holder (spouse/parent) has sufficient funds to support the family during their stay in the United States.

10. H4 Visa Holder's Dependent Documents: Documents such as birth certificates or adoption papers for dependent children applying for the H4 visa.

11. Previous H4 Visa or U.S. Entry Documents (if applicable): Copies of previous H4 visas, I-94 records, or entry stamps to the United States, if you or your family members have previously held H4 status or visited the U.S.

12. Any Additional Supporting Documents: Any other supporting documents that can strengthen your case, such as letters of support, proof of ties to your home country, or documents related to the purpose of your visit to the United States.

It is important to note that the U.S. embassy or consulate where you are applying may have specific requirements or additional documents needed for H4 visa stamping. It is recommended to review the embassy's website or contact them directly for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding document requirements.
